Ludwig van Beethoven Symphony No. 7 in A Major, Op 92. Movement II. Allegretto
Chicago Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Fritz Reiner, performed in 1954 at the famed WGN Studios.
Reiner was renowned for his economical movements, and was the last of the “tyrannical” conductors who were given the ability to hire and fire on the spot for any reason. But his performances were admired world wide. The famed composer, Igor Stravinsky, said of Reiner and Chicago, “the most precise and flexible orchestra in the world.” You will see my horn teacher, Philip Farkas, as the Principal Horn.

The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra is the oldest symphony orchestra in the world, and is a renowned traditional power performing ensemble. Bernard Haitink is a well respected Maestro and known interpreter of the German symphonic repertoire.
