The Viennese Johann Strauss Orchestra performs under the baton of Alfred Eschwé. Recorded live on October 26, 2016 in the Golden Hall of the Wiener Musikverein.

Ludwig van Beethoven Symphony No. 7 in A Major, Op 92. Movement II. Allegretto

Chicago Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Fritz Reiner, performed in 1954 at the famed WGN Studios.

Reiner was renowned for his economical movements, and was the last of the “tyrannical” conductors who were given the ability to hire and fire on the spot for any reason. But his performances were admired world wide. The famed composer, Igor Stravinsky, said of Reiner and Chicago, “the most precise and flexible orchestra in the world.” You will see my horn teacher, Philip Farkas, as the Principal Horn.
