It’s Orchestra of Life Tuesday, and I am doing something wild today.
Attached is a link to a video of PDQ Bach’s Beethoven Symphony No.5.
For those who are familiar with PDQ Bach, this is not an audio recording, but an actual staging of the script on video.
PDQ Bach, an alias for Peter Schikele, was a fictional composer who was totally unsuccessful in his art. However, Peter Schickele was a genius as bringing music education to the masses with audio schtick humor.
This video is 10 minutes long and is well worth the watch. The premise is presenting a performance of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony as a football match between the team (the orchestra) and the conductor. There is a referee and two sports broadcasters. You will laugh and learn. The “football” is the famous theme – ba ba ba baaaaa.
